Oonas Dive Club Review: A Sharm el-Sheikh Original

September 12, 2026 By Admin 2 min read

Overview

Oonas Dive Club is a family-run dive operation at Na'ama Bay in Sharm el-Sheikh, on Egypt's Sinai Peninsula — a 4-star, mid-tier resort, and one of the original diving operations in an area that's since grown into one of the Red Sea's busiest dive hubs. The dive center holds PADI 5-Star Gold Palm status, its top resort tier.

The Diving

Direct house reef access on Na'ama Bay means guests aren't dependent on boat schedules for a baseline dive routine, while daily boats run out to Ras Mohammed and the Straits of Tiran — two of the Sinai's most consistently recommended dive areas for coral cover and current-driven pelagic activity respectively. The full PADI course range is on offer, including Divemaster and 12 specialty certifications. For guests wanting to go further, the resort arranges liveaboard trips to the Brothers and Daedalus, offshore sites known for oceanic whitetip and hammerhead encounters that aren't accessible from shore. Day boat diving runs on OBI WAN, the resort's own cruiser, with a saloon and galley on board and a stated philosophy of keeping groups small per boat.

The Resort

The infrastructure here is built by and for divers rather than general tourists: rinse tanks, dedicated drying rooms, an on-site compressor room, and 24-hour nitrox availability, plus free wifi in the bar, restaurant, and rooms, and electronic in-room safes. There's no pool — the property leans entirely on direct beach access instead. The airport (SSH) is about 9 km / 15 minutes away. Accommodation itself is simple — this is a resort that has clearly prioritized dive logistics over room finishes, consistent with its identity as one of Sharm's original dive-focused operations rather than a newer luxury build.

Who It's For

Divers who want a no-frills, logistics-first dive base with direct reef access and an easy path to the Sinai's better offshore sites will feel at home here. It's a strong fit for repeat, high-frequency diving rather than for travelers prioritizing resort amenities or a pool.
